Hulu Plus available on PS3, VUDU coming soon

Hulu officially launches Hulu Plus, the streaming internet video subscription service that delivers television programming from the country's most popular television networks. The enhanced service costs $7.99 per month, and offers TV shows from ABC, FOX, NBC, and more in high definition.

The service supports a variety of Internet-connected TV's, mobile devices, tablet PC's, set-top boxes, Blu-Ray players, media center PC's, DVR devices, and the PlayStation 3. Hulu says that Xbox 360 support is "coming soon."

In a separate announcement this morning, Sony Computer Entertainment America detailed the launch of Hulu Plus on the PlayStation Network, along with its new VUDU on-demand movie service. VUDU launches November 23. VUDU is an on-demand movie application that supports high definition 1080p HD video output and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound content streaming on the PlayStation 3. SCEA promises that VUDU offers "a massive library of movies"

At launch, VUDU offers more than 4,000 HD movies, including new releases available the same day they are released to DVD or Blu-ray Disc. The VUDU streaming movie service costs $2 for a two night rental.

VUDU will be located under the Video icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) menu after installation. New VUDU customers receive a $5.99 credit, enabling them to watch their first HD movie on the service free.
