Fall Xbox Live update enables ESPN, Zune enhancements

The Fall Xbox Live update launches today enabling new features, offering new entertainment options, and refining certain elements of the online service dedicated to the Xbox 360.

The update also prepares Xbox 360 systems for Kinect, Microsoft's motion sensing technology that goes live November 4.

One of those new features for U.S. customers is the ESPN channel. ESPN offers access to 3,500 live and on-demand sporting events a year from ESPN3.com, alongside daily highlights from ESPN.com on the Xbox Llive. ESPN on Xbox Live offers content in high definition, out of market games, and full DVR controls. All of this ESPN content is also available to share with friends.

The update enables unlimited Zune streaming music streaming, along with an improved search system for Netflix users, a new Xbox Live dashboard look, and deeper family control settings. New features such as Smart DJ (which plays songs that complement your music tastes), and the online community (which connects you with like-minded music fans), promise to further enhance the Zune on Xbox Live experience.

Microsoft also announced this morning that Xbox Live expands to nine new countries on November 10. Xbox Live launches in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Russia, and South Africa.
