Microsoft releases a free content pack for Kinect Sports, with plans to release another one for Kinect Joy Ride in January.
The free Kinect Sports Party Pack DLC contains six new mini-games such as SuperStriker for Soccer, Pinvaders for Bowling, Rapid Runner for Track & Field, Fruit Splatter for Volleyball, and King of the Ring for Boxing.
In SuperStriker for Soccer, players try to score as many goals as they can while avoiding the "boots." Pinvaders for Bowling challenges players to stop the pins before they reach the hazard zone. Rapid Runner for Track & Field puts players against the clock in a challenge to run as far as they can. In Target Smash for Table Tennis, players smash the targets to grab the score. In Fruit Splatter for Volleyball players hit fruit while dodging the bombs. Finally, King of the Ring for Boxing challenges players to knock out a steady stream of opponents before time runs out.
The Kinect Sports Party Pack also offers a new Challenge feature with 15 Party Play events playable with an Xbox Live Party. Three new mascots for Party play are included as well: Zippy Zombie, Champion Chicken, and Sportastico. The DLC also adds 10 new Achievements worth 250 GamerScore points.
Coming January 4, the Kinect Joy Ride Chevrolet Car Pack gives players access to the Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze. Players can customize the colors of these new vehicles or paint them using the Kinect Sensor. All of the new cars are useable in Xbox Live online races as well as the game's six modes. The Kinect Joy Ride Chevrolet Car Pack is a free download. The Chevrolet cars are unlocked when you select the Chevrolet ad in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace or by visiting Xbox.com. Microsoft did not announce when the ads would start appearing on Xbox Live or Xbox.com.
